started back on Monday 1st February and whilst classes are mostly FULL,
limited vacancies exist in our Tuesday Over 10s Mixed Media, and
the Wednesday Over 10s Painting & Drawing.

School Classes are a wonderful way to encourage a child's
creativity, exposing them to a wide range of media, techniques and
Julie's extensive knowledge and experience teaching children (almost 20
years) Please contact the studio if you wish your child to join one of

ARTY TIPS FROM JULES
- oils
OIL PALETTE - I
encourage all of my oil painting students to get themselves a Bantex
student case to use as their palette - these are a simple plastic folder
with 2 flat work surfaces that clip shut when not in use - no messy
oils, no cling wrap, no waste. Put in the fridge between sessions to
help keep your paints wet. These are available in store for around $6.00
- perfect!
OIL BRUSH CLEANING - for those that don’t like turps there’s a
great alternative - vegetable oil. Simply wipe as much paint from your
brushes as you can with an old cloth/paper towel. Massage a bit of cheap
vege oil through the bristles and wash with warm soapy water. Repeat if
necessary until all oil is gone. Keep an old jar next to your sink with
a little oil in the bottom.
My favourite product of the moment - I LOVE using Art Spectrum
Wax Medium to give my oils a luscious flow. It also speeds drying time
so it’s good if you’re in a hurry. Always!
at the house...
in the studio - Wednesdays & Weekends in Autumn - At House of Jules we
offer a range of weekly classes for adults in a variety of media. Most
classes are presently FULL, however we do have some spaces in the
Tuesday 10am-1pm and the Thursday 9am-12noon Open Classes, as well as
the Tuesday 6.30-9pm Painting & Drawing Class. Please call studio for

Wed 17th March - 10am-3pm nibble & scribble - Come along ...
monthly studio open day. Share ideas & techniques, get advice, catch up
on some quality time with your easel! $25 per person includes yummy
morning tea & lunch. Please Book.
Wed 24th March -
10am-3pm LIMES ON A PLATE ONE DAY WORKSHOP - Create this stunning
plate by Jules. You will learn tips on loading and layering colours,
liner work and building up design. $55 includes all materials, firing,
lunch and morning tea. Book Early. Max 8 in class. BYO brushes.
Wed 14th April (in
school holidays) 10am-3pm LARGE CANVAS ONE DAY ‘HOLIDAY’ WORKSHOP
A great workshop for the holidays - come along and create a ‘loose
abstract’ on 36X36” (90X90cm) canvas using a variety of materials and
paints. $75 includes all materials, lunch and morning tea. Book Early.
Max 8 in class. Wear old clothes!

10am-3pm CLAY TORSO ONE DAY WORKSHOP Messy but loads of fun!
Push, squish and giggle your way through this popular exploration of the
body to create a clay statue that will be fired at the studio once dry.
Looks fab in the garden. Approx 30-40cm high. $55 includes all
materials, firing, lunch and morning tea. Book Early. Max 8 in class.
TWO SPECIAL WEEKEND
WORKSHOPS IN MAY
HEBEL CARVING 1st &
2nd May
It’s not quite like carving butter, but this aerated building product is
certainly much easier than stone - learn how to plan, start and then
refine your 3D design, using a variety of tools & techniques. $120 for
both days including lunches and morning teas. 10am-3pm both days.
Limited vacancies. Call to Book. Maximum 6 in class. BYO garden gloves
if you can.
GLASS & MIRROR MOSAIC
29th & 30th May
Master the basics of this timeless craft. Learn to cut glass and mirror,
plan a design and create an eye-catching mosaic feature using beautiful
glass tiles, which offer much more choice and vibrancy than ceramic tile
mosaics.
$140 for both days including all materials, lunches and morning teas.
10am-3pm both days. Limited vacancies. Call to Book. Maximum 6 in class.
